Leadership and Governance

Memorial Healthcare System is a public, non-profit hospital system governed by the South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners, a seven-member district board appointed by the Governor. The Board of Commissioners appoints the President and CEO, who leads Memorial’s executive team.

In 1947, residents approved a referendum to create a health district and to adopt a millage rate to support the mission of healthcare for all residents, regardless of ability to pay. Today, taxpayers receive world-class healthcare close to home from physicians who are among the best in their field.
